We are attempting to create our first post ever using the iPad. We use a Modified version of Expression Engine CMS and a new app came out called iExpression. As a test, we posting from a borrowed iPad 2 and are really raving over Noteshelf. We plan to have a full review shortly of both Noteshelf and iExpression. Stay tuned
iPad 2: Online Orders Start Shipping, New Orders Delayed, Jailbroken Already
If you ordered the iPad 2 online when it was first available in the wee hours of Friday last week, you may have learned your unit is shipping. Apparently some WiFi and Verizon iPad 2 units have started the process. In a move unusual for Apple, online orders seem to have taken a back seat to in store purchases.
In the past, you had the ability to pre-order products from Apple. Usually the delivery day coordinated with the in-store on sale date. Meaning smart online customers received their products the ame date without the hassles of line waiting. Not so this time around. In fact, we are informed the earliest online orders will hit will be Wed or Thursday this week. What’s worse, if you didn’t set your alarm Friday morning to place your order, online orders have been getting pushed back from 2-3 weeks, to 3-4 weeks.

iMovie and GarageBand Go Live Ahead of iPad 2 Launch
The Universal iMovie App for iOS has just received it’s update ahead of the iPad 2 launch. Here’s what to expect:
iPad Market Share 73% in Fourth Quarter
New competition from the android camp, has caused a pretty big drop in Apple’s tablet market share.
While there is no reason to sell Apple stock just yet, it is interesting how quickly a competitor has come along and taking 20% of Apple’s market share.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Media Tablet and eReader Tracker, 10.1 million media tablets were shipped in the fourth quarter of 2010 (4Q10) - more than double the 4.5 million shipped in the third quarter. Apple’s share came down from 93% in 3Q10 to 73% in 4Q10, but still reflected Apple’s strong leadership position. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab was the primary competitor in the holiday season, beating other players to market and capturing more than 17% share, while a number of smaller regional players also participated.
iPad 2 Video Tours Posted by Apple
In typical Apple style, they produced 14 cool videos to give you a flavor of what to expect if you’re thinking about getting a new iPad 2 tomorrow.
Of particular interest to us are the iMovie and GarageBand videos which highlight the new processors strengths as well as the software’s prowess. While certainly not ready to replace Final Cut Studio, it’s pretty darned cool. Editing iMovie files on an iPhone is painful given the size constraints. Not so with the iPad 2 of course. Can’t wait to get my hands on this.
How to Order iPad 2
If your credit card is primed, you have a few options to grab a new iPad 2. You can wait in line starting tomorrow at 5pm in a myriad of spots (AT&T, Apple, Verizon) and likely others like Best Buy. This will grant you the fastest gratification as ordering doesn’t begin until 1am (Pacific) this evening. That means the earliest you’d likely get a delivery is Monday or Tuesday at best.

iPad 2 Specs - Shipping March 11
Here’s a few more tidbits from today’s announcements:
The new iPad will use the A5 chip and sport a dual-core processor, up to 2x faster, and up to 9x faster graphics. Should be a boon for gaming. $849 WiFi and 3G 64GB version.
Other guesses were also correct with dual cameras (front and back), curved rear design and 33% thinner. In fact it’s thinner than the iPhone 4! Wow! Also now in white!
HDMI Video out via $39 cable. FaceTime and PhotoBooth also on board. Apple is also introducing a new iPad 2 cover that works via magnets. Comes in lots of colors, looks interesting.
iMovie for iPad 2 and iOS 4.3. $4.99 on March 11.
Also - Garageband for iOS 4.3 and iPad 2 also $4.99 on the 11th. Looks killer!
Apple Has 200 Million Store Accounts
Not bad. In addition, Apple has paid developers more than $2 billion in royalties. That should give you an idea of the total business the App store is doing.
In addition, Apple has recently shipped it’s 100 millionth iPhone. I personally am responsible for about 5 of those over the years! Your welcome Steve.

Facepad for iPad - The App That Won’t Open
Thank heavens the app is free. I’d be more than peaved if I had paid to have the app not launchable.
While Techcrunch (one of my favorite sites), touts the virtues of Facepad as a Facebook winner for iPad - It’s got issues…
We did finally get it launched, but not without problems…The app told us we had incorrect login information, yet logged us in. The biggest gripe for me, only works in landscape! What? Fail. Avoid this app.
Slingplayer Now for iPad
I have always been a fan of Slingplayer. As my travel has cut back over the past few years, I’ve found I hadn’t used it as much. However, the release of the $29.99 app for the iPad has me rethinking that habit.
Today I downloaded it for the iPad. I hadn’t updated the Apple Airport Extreme to allow the Slingbox to sling my media, but the new software online made it a snap. Way, way better than only a few years ago where it was rather tedious.
Bottom line, I am slinging media with the best of them. There is still the issue of where to place the Slingbox in line with my cable box. Moving the Slingbox to receive cable directly from the wall, means I don’t get the premium channels. Moving it after the cable box, means when I switch channels on Slingplayer, I switch channels from home.
There should be a better way, but overall, I happily departed with the $29.99 and will be found slinging my media regularly thanks to Slingbox. Heads up, this works…
